Nearshoring in Polen

When ProData Consult A/S acquired a controlling interest in ProData Consult Sp. z o.o. (Poland) just under four years ago, the motivation was primarily servicing the local Polish market. I was of the opinion that both offshoring and nearshoring were oversold, and that this market segment was over-consolidated.

But I couldn’t have been more wrong, and it’s become clear that an alternative to the traditional offshore destinations is in demand among Scandinavian companies. An alternative that’s closer to Northern Europe – organisationally, geographically and culturally – and that resembles our flat, non-hierarchical corporate structure, which requires a high degree of personal responsibility and initiative on the part of the individual employee and consultant.

Our clients are always surprised by how easy it is to nearshore in Poland, by how good the consultants are and how smoothly they integrate into the local IT organisation.

Our model in Poland isn’t based on the lowest price, but rather on high quality and accessibility – and not least a high degree of scalability. Bottlenecks occur very rapidly on the Scandinavian IT market, and companies constantly risk not being able to recruit qualified labor. A nearshore operation in Poland reduces that risk significantly. At a price that’s still very attractive.

Even though Scandinavian clients constitute a large proportion of our activities in Poland today, we think it’s important to avoid becoming a ‘nearshore satellite’ that’s out of touch with Polish reality.

We work constantly with major Polish clients, and we’ve just concluded framework agreements with the largest power company in Poland as well as one of the largest insurance providers in the country. We will continue to have a strong presence and commitment in relation to Poland and the local Polish market.

In this edition of the magazine, four of our valued clients – large and small – share their experiences with nearshoring in Poland. And it’s important to emphasize that nearshoring in Poland is so relatively easy and uncomplicated that even small companies without highly developed business process systems can benefit from it.
